Hello!
We are living in unprecedented times. It is a crazy world of a coronavirus pandemic, joblessness, homelessness and, more recently, civil unrest accompanied by rioting and looting in our cities. Together, these conditions have created fear and stress with significant impacts on the health and happiness of each of us. Despite all of that, I believe there is some good news.
Western scientific research in the fields of psychology and neuroscience, as well as Eastern philosophy and psychology, have identified specific happiness and stress management strategies that we can practice on a daily basis to:
- calm our minds
- bring peace and happiness to our hearts, and
- be more effective as we strive to make this world a better place.
Many of these strategies will be shared with you on this site.
My name is Donna Daisy. In my past life (before retirement), I worked as the Executive Director of a social service agency, and later as a hospital psychologist specializing in stress management. Those experiences coupled with graduate studies in Positive Psychology and studies of Eastern philosophies, particularly Buddhism, provide the basis from which I write the blog articles I share with you on this site.
The ideas and strategies you will find on this site will help to build resilience, happiness and an approach to life that supports living together with compassion and kindness for ourselves and for each other.
A good place to start is the article, The New Normal: 12 Strategies for Achieving Happiness in the World of COVID-19. That article provides the foundational material for many other articles and strategies you will find on this site.
Please join me by sharing your thoughts in the Comments section. Together, perhaps we can strengthen the habits that allow all of us to enjoy the blessings of a calm mind in a crazy world.
May you be happy, healthy and safe!
Donna Daisy, Ph.D.
